All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

I think we all have a sense of how cars are made, but boy do these videos bring it home as to just how complicated the process is from design idea to a car off the production line.
Thanks to the contributors of these videos.
I particularly liked the year - 59 - I maybe even saw my car.
Have fun,

When people complain about the cost of a new car, they never understand just what goes into designing one from the ground up, especially with a model change.

That is how Henry Ford could keep the prices down during the Model T years.   He had to change eventually as people were "encouraged" by all the other makers that kept on changing shapes and designs to get people to buy new cars.

Plus, if one looks at car designs over the years, one sees that a lot of the underpinnings are virtually identical from year to year, with cosmetic changes on the outside.

Nice shots of 1959 body testing (min. 9.20-9.32) and upholstery patterns for "DeVille" and "60 Special" models (min. 20.00-20.03).
