What is the correct color and pattern for the insulation material that lines the inside of the trunk lid and can be seen between the metal support braces ? Back in 2007 , this same question was asked and a recommendation was made to contact Mark II Enterprises ( Lincoln restoration specialists ) in CA . I did that and the person I spoke to said he did have the material in BLACK . I seem to remember that the material was either a light brown or a tan color . He said he has never seen brown or tan and has sold "hundreds" of the black sheets to Cadillac owners . In researching photos of what appear to be unrestored 1955 trunk lids , they do appear to be light brown or tan . What are your thoughts ? Black or light brown/tan , waffle pattern or plain ? Can someone provide a source to purchase ? Thanks , Paul Tesone CLC # 6876

Paul; My original, unrestored 5562 has the dark tan color, with the jacking label still pasted on the right side. Car is Cape Ivory with black top.

Thanks CEC - I didn't think it should be black . Now , perhaps someone can tell me where to buy the material . .. Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Try Jenkins for the material.  It is a dark tan color -- not black.

The hard part in doing the installation is to cut it perfectly to fit into the holes
in the trunk support metal.  When these were originally installed, an entire sheet
was glued on to the trunk lid and the bracing metal was spot welded into place over
the top.  So -- no spaces should show between the edges and the trunk support piece.
