I just got my transmission back from my fsther-in-law who is a mechanic and rebuilt my hydramatic tranny.  We aren't sure about the band adjustment.  Can you adhust it out of t he car or does it have to be running? Thanks

Doug Houston

You may be thinking of the external band adjustment, described in the H-M manuals, and the car manuals.

The transmission has to be in the car, filled with fluid, and ready to run, in order to do the external band adjustment. There is a tool for doing the adjustment, if you can find one.
