I am restoring. My 59 Coupe to its original colors, desert rose.  Does anyone know if the door ferries were painted or chrome

Painted plastic on my original Fleetwood. Perhaps it was one of those batch/vendor/supplier differences?

They were always plastic never steel.

I might be wrong on the 1959 and I am no expert on cars that's for sure. Are you talking about hole protector for the door lock in the top aft part of the door panel?  If so I removed mine from my 1962 Coupe Deville for door panel refinishing. The 62 in steel and a magnet will stick it it. You can see the rust and metal in the photo below. Sorry if I am talking about the wrong or different part. Dave
