can someone tell me exactly where the wires go from the generator on 41 60 special. I cant seem to understand the shop manual. if you can just start with one wire at a time to avoid my confusion. I had the front  rewired, all lights work it starts runs great but my so called wiring expert left me with the 3 wires hanging from the generator . also nothing to voltage regulator. please if you know one at  atime as I have to unwrap and trace. thanks john

There should be a wire going from the F and A terminals on the generator to the F and A terminals on the regulator.  The BAT one on the regulator goes to the battery.

As far as the other one goes, I'm not sure where it hooks up at on the generator, but I'm assuming it is your ammeter lead.

There should be no more than two wires at the generator, and as Dan states they attach to the regulator. The one attached to 'A'  (Armature) should be of thicker wire than the 'F' (field)

John : Attached is the wiring diagram for a 41 -60 special. With the previous help from Dan & Steve you can look at the diagram and trace your wiring. You can visually see where the 2 generator wires hook up to the F & G posts of the regulator. Two of the 3 wires to the regulator( Battery & Armature) should be 10 gage wire and the third wire to the regulator is 16 gage wire. This 16 gage is hooked up to the F (Field )post of the regulator and the other end of that 16 gage wire goes out to the F post on the generator.  Bill

Also, lemme add that if you install a radio interference condenser, it will bolt to the generator case, and to the "ARM" terminal (the big one), and never connect it to the field terminal.
