Original Radio Source

My '71  CDV has a year-correct 8-track radio.  The window sticker, however, says "AM-FM Stereo Radio Signal Seek".  Looking through the manual and seeing what the 'Signal Seek' radio was, it seems the original radio was changed out at some point.  This car is remarkably original, and I'd like to change this back to the way it came.

Is there a source for restored original radios?  I have found places that will restore mine, but since I don't have the unit I want, that won't help me.

Thanks

You might ask yourself when the radio was changed. It could have been by the dealer before the car ever was yours. If you had a service record of the car, or even an addenda to the dealer's billing, it could be verified from that,

I have a couple of cars that don't show the radio at all, but it was installed after the first owner bought the car.

Scott,
It was pretty common to change radios at the dealership after factory delivery.  8 tracks were the hot item and I remember the dealers having a large stash of "signal seeking" radios pulled out of new cars in 72.

I had to chuckle on this issue. At the time that 8 track sets were highly in vogue, I had a recorder for 8 track. I was driving a '71 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser I was able to buy a Cadillac  8 track radio, and fit it into the dash.  I enjoyed ny "custom" made tapes for a few years. Upon selling the O;lds, I put the original Olds radio back i the car, and kept the Cadillac set. Later Cadillacs  had cassette players, and the 8 track faded into history.

Try Arizona auto parts.....Arizona Vintage or something like that.  I was looking for a radio for our 70 and he had one.  I got it and unfortunately only 1 channel worked.  He did take it back tho. Cost me $25 to ship it here and $17 to send it back and I only paid $100 for the stupid thing.  Anyway, they may have one that you can get for a $100 then send it out to have it repaired.

Didn't someone here recently talk about a former repair shop that was selling off their old stock?   Seems like there was some 70's stuff on the list.
