Some years ago (maybe 2005?), as I recall, the Self Starter had a column (I think by Walt Brewer) in which he recommended installing a jumper hose from a jacket port on the driver's side rear of the engine to a corresponding port on the passenger side.  (Naturally this involves ports on the heads.)  As I remember the column, Brewer mentioned he had done this with his '41, and was able to operate at midsummer parade conditions with a coolant temperature of ~185°F.

I'm wondering if anyone has implemented his suggestions, and what your experiences were in terms of ease of installation and results.  As you might imagine, I'm considering doing likewise on my '40 La Salle.  Thanks.
