For a 1941  (- 1948)  engine (top) exhaust crossover pipe, what is the proper torque for the (4) 3/8-16 bolts with new gaskets? The "1941 Cadillac Shop Manual"  is not specific for these bolts...it lists 25 to 30 ft-lbs for exhaust manifold, which I assume means for the nuts holding down the clamps retaining the exhaust and intake manifolds....?
Thanks, Alan Feltham CLC1126

The same torque applies to the cross over bolts (also 4 intake bolts in the center to the block). It works best for me to torque to 20# then to 25# using a criss cross pattern while tightening the manifold studs from the middle to the ends with the same criss cross pattern. Once the car has been brought up to temp it is best to re torque everything.     Harry
