Hi All,

What are the dimensions of the cutout for the top lift switch on a 1961 Cadillac?

On my car the under steering column trim panel has a rectangle hole that measures

1 1/8 horizontal by 1 1/2 vertical.

I ask because the replacement switch I bought from OPG measures:

1 3/8 horizontal by 1 7/16 vertical

The OPG switch will not work.

My trim panel looks to be original however the previous owner used as window switch to "replace" a faulty top switch and since the window switch did not have a metal snap in clip he drilled two hoes in the trim panel to accommodate the screws for the window switch.

The questions are

Is the top lift switch is supposed to go under the steering column?

Were there more than one size switch (therefore more than one trim panel)?

What size switch is supposed to go in that hole?

Does anyone have a replacement trim panel with the correct rectangle hole and one that is serviceable (no drilled holes) or a replacement switch?

Doug. Was it removed from a 61 or 62?  The two are NOT interchangeable. The 1962 panel continues below the dash 3/4" further than 1961.
