Anyone know this car
« on: December 29, 2014, 02:04:13 PM »
I was browsing the internet looking for some of my dads old cars and found our 35 Cadillac coupe we restored in the mid to late 70's. I was wondering if anyone on here owns it now or knows who does. Here's some pics of it when we got it, and me working on it when I was a kid.  http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/66trakpak/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps9e6797f5.jpg.html http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/66trakpak/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsd53c8c7c.jpg.html  http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/66trakpak/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps8cfa223a.jpg.html

That is a magnificent beast, wasted in the museum, I'd prefer to be driving it.
Is that how it was restored in the 70s or has it been done again since?

Hi Steve that's the way it looked when we sold it in the late 80's so I assumed it is still the same now

Gilmore is one of the best and they really maintain the cars.  Our CLC museum is located there as well.

I wonder if the museum now owns it or is it on loan?

Pretty sure it was donated to the CCCA (classic car club of america) museum, which is on the gilmore museum campus.  They were the first car club to establish a museum there, around 1987.  It was donated sometime in 2014 along with a 1940 Cadillac 62 convertible coupe.  Looks like they came from the same person as both have Vermont license plates on them and came to the museum together.

Wow!!, Yes my dad sold both those cars to the same person as a pair back in 1988-89. His name was William Christie. I lost contact with this man long ago.The 40 cad is the same car I posted on this forum when I found a post card that was made of it on Ebay when my dad had it. Thanks for the info I just got the chills seeing them together again :o.

Visit them in person at the Gilmore car museum : http://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org/

They are on display in the CCCA Barrett Barn   : http://cccamuseum.org/Home/tabid/90/Default.aspx

I Don't think that the CCCA barn is open in the winter, so call in advance to see if they are open.

THE Cadillac LaSalle Club Museum and Research center is also located on the Gilmore Car Museum campus:

There is a one page article about these cars in the current issue (Winter 2014) of "The Classic Car"(Publication of the CCCA).  They were donated by William Christie to the CCCA Education Foundation and have a value of $175,800.  They will be offered for sale at their appraised value or after 3 year waiting period, may be offered for sale at whatever the market value is.

Hi Brad, Thanks for the info, is there anyway I can see the article? I don't have a membership. Also thanks for the '40 turn signal covers, they came really fast and great shape. Thanks again, Gary.
