I have been studying the documentation I have found, and I am wondering if there are more than one version of these systems.

My car is a 1942-6719 and as I am refurbishing my components and testing them I can not figure out how to get the motor for the defroster unit to reverse, as I believe it is supposed to do? If it was designed to reverse it seems that there would be three electrical leads, one a ground and one for each direction the motor would turn, but mine seems to have only one. Were the early units different than the later ones??

It seems that the Ranco valve has two leads but it is not necessarily original to my car?

On the standard reverable heater there should be up to 4 leads Gary. One is an earth and I have one heater where this is connected to the heater body and another where it follows the other wires to find an earth somewhere else on the dash I guess. The motor has two wires connected to the two brushes for clock and anti clock, the third wire connects to the armature.  The standard heater switch has 4 terminals, 1 for the power supply, 1 each for the brushes and one for the armature. I cant answer for the de luxe heater switch as I haven't taken it off.  I'm guessing in your case you rely on the under-seat heaters and the de- mister is just that, a one direction motor.
