Hi! I'm going to import a 1953 Cadillac series 62 to my country, Spain. It's a good base for a restoration
project. My aim is to recover the car preserving the original uphostery but I have some doubs about
exterior color. Now it's white that I don't really like it much even if I must admit that can result elegant
in this car. You can see the uphostery in below picture. According to http://www.rrrclc.org the only white
avaliable then as exterior color was the "Alpine White" but only to the Eldorado. So i suppose that the
car was repainted. The questions are: what were the exterior colors avaliable for this uphostery and
what do you think about changing the original fabric color to other original one avaliable in the car's catalog?
Does this change decrease his value? Thanks!

Here is a link to your color choices. This company also has the interior color combo's. Your cars data plate will tell you what color is is/was.  Paint codes are listed on the left.

The first thing I would do is, while I'm waiting for the car to arrive, is order the build sheet.  GM Heritage Centre will email it to you within a couple days of receiving the order.  That will tell you how the car left the factory.

I would stick with the original colour.  Any of the dark greens available in '53 would look nice with that interior, or, a dark green roof with a light green body if going two tone.

And what information about the car should I give them, the VIN number?

Everything you need to know is right here:

Attached is the copy of the records for my '53.  Tells you everything you need to know.

If you are looking for a copy of the data book and other literature, you can find it here:

I had a 1953 Cadillac sedan back in the days when it was a used car. It had a pale green body and a dark green top that was similar to your upholstery. Good luck. (I think I paid $300 for the car at that time.)

My car still haven't arrived (in a week) but the seller have sent to me the bill of sale and in the
VIN it reads "CU1488003". This really doesn't match with any VIN I've ever seen...

Roger Zimmermann

Indeed...The VIN should read 5362XXXXX. I'm wondering what the number the seller is giving to you means.
