Jeff,
Hi. That seems to be a pretty steep starting price for the amount of work that vehicle needs, which is basically everything. I'd be very surprised if he even got a nibble……

Jeff,
I used to own that car many years ago. It appeared to be a very professional job. As I remember.. it was NOT an SO car. I never got an invoice on it. Maybe someone with an extra $50 is curious?? I remember the D after 6219 on the data plate was real big. Never saw another one like it. I agree it's not a $9K car. But... It needs to be saved.

When I was doing the 41 chapter newsletter, someone sent me a photo of a 6219 with a division window, but it showed only the glass from the top of the front seat. It slide horizontally instead of up and down, so this car that Bob had is different.

If sold new in SoCal, the division could have been added by Bohman & Swartz.

Hello

Only 7,850 of these 1941 Cadillac 6219D manufactured. If it was done by Bohman & Swartz it was well done. We are fortunate to have validation by Bob. I hope this classic finds a good home.
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

Correct me if I am wrong but the interior is the Deluxe version but that package also included the rear fender skirts which this car does not have.

Skirts are the first thing to turn up missing. Usually, when the car is relatively new, one or the other will end up in a ditch on a rainy night after changing a flat tire. That is why you see so many LH singles turn up for sale. Then you will have to contend with someone like me while it was on a used car lot. There was a shade tree lot near Sherman Drive and Mass. Ave in Indy in 1958. He had two 1947 hearses and one had "wide trim" skirts from a '47-49 limo. I pestered him for two weeks to sell them to me for my 1941 6127 coupe. I didn't care about the wrong trim, I put them on at the curb. The car was in-operable when I came home from Berlin in 1964, but the skirts were in the trunk!

Very likely during the life of this car, someone purloined the skirts, deluxe model or not.

Oh, I got the skirts for $15.00.

Steve, since you're overseas, you might try writing Agape Auto in Evansville, IN. (Check in Hemmings) They have the reproduced skirts and perhaps they would sell you just one. They are close enough in appearance, looking at them from one side to the other, by the time you got the edge rubber on, painted, and install a medallion base, it should look pretty sharp. The main difference is that at the rear bottom, instead of the smooth curve to tuck under the fender, they have a short 90 degree break about five or six inches long. Just a thought.

The fog lamp rings got here yesterday, and cleaned up beautifully. A little loss of plating on one screw cover. I'm getting ready to go out to the garage and check my "best" side on the ones I had previously and see which of the three are best. Thank you, and I'm hoping to make up to you sometime on the "deal" I got. The other '41 guys must have all been asleep that week on eBay.

Hey Passmore,

In earlier years it was the spare wheel cover that got left in the ditch! Here in Oz, the first things to get taken off and thrown down the back of the shed were the radiator louvres - the cars just ran too hot here with them fitted. Hence the PIA in finding replacements now!

Thanks, everyone, for the information!  I'm curious about the car, Bob, but not $50 curious.   ;)

Bowman and Schwartz is a possibility.  Derham is another if it was an east coast car.

Jeff & others,
Here's a perfect example regarding  the control of the shipping documents. If they belonged to the club and the cost was a fair  $20 for members... I'd be happy to pay for it myself or share it with another member. I'm NOT going to pay AV $50 for 10 minutes of clerk time. Thoughts...

Passmore (loved that last joke about Harvey, BTW!)

Nah thanks, I have some now but they took an age to find and then only after finding out that the 75 series were different (in dimensions) from the more commonly available 60 etc. series.

Steve,

That should have read "Howard", not "Harvey" BTW.

Bob, I agree with you, but didn't GM sell the info across the board? I.E, Pontiac, Olds, Cadillac, etc?  I got the info on mine when Carl was there doing the research on the 60S', and asked for the #1 body as well. Being the nice guy that he was, he did so and I finally figured out how to feature a car in an article that there was no known picture of.

I feel it is unfortunate that they charge so much for a photocopy of one sheet of paper. Some kind of consideration for CLC Members would be courteous .

I feel the same way but I guess their argument will be its the searching through files time your paying for. They could hardly let you have the original. None the less its expensive for the little information you get.

Especially after they started whiting out the key codes.  That can have some value at times since it is expensive to have a lock picked.
