Guys, starting the process of looking at a 98 Eldo with 22K miles to be used as a daily driver. I'm aware of head gasket, oil pan gasket and some sensor and electrical issues that are common with the Northstar Caddys.  Is this car a definite stay away? Were the problems over hyped?  Are these cars more problematic/more risky than the HT4100's?   Any input/personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

These era Northstars are WAY less risky than HT4100s in my opinion. We've had 4 Sevilles (93-97s) and have put a combined 500.000 miles on them without a head gasket failure or other serious mechanical issues with the engines. I'd say go for it, I'm currently looking for my 5th STS  8)

Doesn't every question like this come down to price?

If it is cheap enough that you can afford to walk away when it does something obnoxious and expensive, then it is a good deal.

This, of course assumes that you are of the temperament that you can walk away.

For my own part, I have always tended to hang on too long.
