I am wondering what I should offer to get the Cadillac Lasalle, I am very interested in restoring one, but I am unsure of a fair price to offer. Thanks for your help.  :D

Chase,

I'd  consider this a parts car that would be a money pit. To give an idea of price and conditions this is a post from several years ago:

Agreed.

Too far gone and not valuable enough to justify the cost to restore - which will be in the multiples of the value of the final product.

Hello Chase

Glad to read you are interested in purchasing a Cadillac or LaSalle.

I would highly recommend that you do not acquire the mentioned vehicle for FREE.  A LaSalle is a great automobile but this one is an old trophy that should be admired only.

I would suggest that you become a CLC National member and a region member near your residence.  This will allow you to learn about our brand.  More importantly you will become familiar with CLC members with knowledge of automotive mistakes and achievements with Cadillacs and LaSalles.  Also use this forum to ask ALL your questions BEFORE you buy.

We exist to assist.
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

luv my caddy

Hello Chase and welcome. I am rather new to this forum myself.  I have met a lot of good people with incredible knowledge about the brand through the forum.

As far as the car goes you can do much better. If it helps I recently bought a  decent 39 with a title  as a parts car for $1200.00

Yeah, I figured as much, but I am looking for a 1940 LaSalle if anyone has any good leads in the DFW area it'd be greatly appreciated!

Chase,

Keep an eye on our North Texas Region Newsletter classified section posted under http://forums.cadillaclasalleclub.org/index.php?board=8.0 by Bill Levy.

Good luck..!

Chase,

I agree with all of the above as far as the LaSalle is concerned.  It would take a lot of work and at least $30,000 to do a decent restoration and it is a fairly common  model. The Packard I have no opinion of.

Not knowing your skills and budget my estimation could be off a bit either way.

Look beyond your area, if you find something decent I am sure local club members would be available to look the car over for you. When I purchased my 1940 LaSalle I flew to Arizona and checked it out myself.

Good Luck

Michael 38 LaSalle

I have a 38 LaSalle opera coupe for sale. The car is about 40 miles from Baltimore MD. I am working on getting pictures. May car is in a lot condition than the one listed on Craig's list. There are a lot of extra parts: motor, front fenders, radiator, hood, etc. If you are interested you can reach me at 240-362-4415.
