Yes, welcome!  I strongly suggest you buy the best one you can afford, buy the car that is complete!  Parts are somewhat hard to find so it's best to start with a complete car, that way if you need something rebuilt, you can send it out and get it done.  Chasing parts on old cars is slow and sometimes expensive.

I bought my '70 from a dealer in Florida.  Had been looking for about a year and finally found the right one (for me).  I flew to it and inspected it in person.  Bought it, had it shipped to Dallas, where I too live.

Key things to remember:
1) buy a complete car
2) running & driving if possible
3) part of the fun is the chase!
4) buy the best one you can afford.

Feel free to run stuff by us, we'll help!!

Chase I'm Anthony, 18 I've been working on caddys with my dad since I was 16, just wondering, why would you want such an old Cadillac? I'm only asking because maybe I can help you decide on the best year to suit your needs.

Hey, don't knock him for wanting an older Cadillac. Theres nothing wrong with that. Its refreshing to see young enthusiasts coming into the hobby. Who else is going to have these pre war cars when we are all gone?

Hey, Believe me I'm not knocking him, my dream car is a 57 eldorado brougham, I'm just curious because everybody has different intentions when getting a caddy, I like the 57 brougham for all of its standard luxury options and its legacy. He may want an older caddy from the late 40's because of other reasons like the body style or because it's pre hydramatic transmission, I just asked because I wanted to know. When I said "such and old Cadillac" I meant anything pre mid 1950's before the "golden age" of caddys (50's and 60's) I do love myself a 49 cadillac sedanette though

Hi Tony,

When the time comes for a Eldorado Brougham, check our chapter and I would be happy to offer any tips regarding those cars.

I love the looks of the older models, as well as the history behind the older models, it just reminds me of an elegance of that time period as well.

If I were you I'd go for a 48/49 caddy, it's a classic, beautiful car, great car to restore if you find, one, first year of the caddy fins
