I am considering buying a 1978 Eldorado.  The a/c has not been converted.  How big a deal is to make the conversion?

Why do you want to convert it? You can still get R12   It cools well

I have a 76 with 134A in it and it works well.

I also have a 70 with R-12 that works much better.

I would advise R-12.  It's sold on craig's list but you need an older shop to vacuum your system and recharge it.

Although if you are just a bit low you can top it off possibly?

Thanks.  I guess I thought I had to convert it to be compliant with regulations but if that's not the case then it makes things simpler.  Hopefully the system just needs a recharge.  I will be personally viewing the car for the first time on Saturday
