Am I correct in assuming that the engine-transmission combination in my '60 Eldorado (390) is a three point mount...motor mounts and the transmission mount? Seems like a lot of weight for a three point mount.

Thanks for experienced input...

Yep.  Standard practice on rwd vehicles.

1960 introduced a spring style transmission mount meant to absorb any vibrations.   It was referred to as "a cushion of velvet".

Walter:

Thanks for the re-assurance...I have new mounts for all, just wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing something.

I looked under mine.  Saw a lot of grease but no velvet.  8)

When I first looked under my CDV, I thought someone had done a butchers job of making the trans mount.   My car had been fitted with a 454 and TH400, so when I saw the bent piece of metal, with a couple of extra holes drilled in it to suit the TH400, I wasn't impressed.

It wasn't till a few years later that I found out it was original.   I thought it was probably built by the same bloke that made the jack-base mounting in the trunk.

What raised my concern was the brace in front of the transmission mounting plate. It looked like something might just need to go there, but obviously not.
