1956 under hood paint

Been looking at a number of 1956 Coupes. Some are described as "restored". A number of them have what I would call semi gloss black paint on the inner fender panels and firewall. Others have these parts painted the same color as the exterior of the car. Question is, what is "factory"?

I've been wondering the same thing on my "54".

From all the pictures and 54-56 I have looked at personally had the same color as the outside body.

With exception of a couple "restored" that had black. Maybe depending on the outside color they may do certain colors to match and others they did black, because they thought it was better than the color of the body.

Just my input of what I have seen, I'm sure someone will chime in, there is a book that the CLC sells that probably says in it.

My azure blue body was done on the engine compartment also.
