turn signal flasher connections 1941 cadillac 60

im trying  to connect a new turn signal flasher. my connections are lableled p,l,x on the new one. the 3 wires are lableled hot, switch and I cant see the third. anyone know what hooks to what ? thanks john

Hi John: Picture below should help. Your wire marked hot should go to the X post on the flasher. This hot wire also contains a inline fuse and is probably a red cross tracer wire. Your wire marked switch is probably a black and red cross tracer wire coming from the turn signal switch and is hooked to the L position on the flasher and controls the lamps to be flashed. The 3rd wire you can`t see probably is a red tracer wire and hooked to the P post on the signal flasher which flashes your directional signal light in your dash.    Bill
