Can anyone tell me what this color is and where I may find it? Having a hard time matching this color

Thank you for any input

Steve Passmore

The correct red wheel colour is Vincennes Red, if yours is not, anyone would have a hard job telling you what shade it is from a photo Mitch.  A good paint suppliers could mix and match it.

As Steve pointed out, it is hard to get the correct Vincennes Red from a picture. Suggest you scroll to the top of this page and in the upper left you will see the word  Search  Click on Search and then type in    Vincennes Red      and you will get a whole page of responses on Vincennes Red.  I think in all those responses it will give you the info you need.   Bill

I found a thread that claimed Mercedes "Signal Red" was a good substitute.  I did it and love it, especially because I was able to find a bottle of touch up on eBay when a tire shop missed up my rims at the edges. The touch up even had a brush in the bottle attached to the cap. Color is amazing.
You can see them in my restoration blog for my 1942-6719

Mitch; In 2005 I looked at far two many shades of red for the wheels of my 47 to make up my mind what each paint house claimed to be Vincennes Red.  So I went to my local powder coat shop in Phoenix and they pulled out a shade called Blood Red which you see on my wheels below. This is as close as I came to what I think is Vincennes Red.  If you Google- Powder Coat Blood Red- it will give you a good look at Blood Red. Any powder coat shop should have a color sample of Blood Red on hand and then be able to order in that color.   Bill

As referenced many times here TCP Global mixes these old colors.  They have the red and it is dead on.  The last time I bought paint from them I asked how do they do this.  They have one guy that matches the color.  He generates a formula and then the next time someone orders that color they can just mix the paint to the formula.  I ordered 3 different colors and they already had the formula for 2 of them.  It took a couple of weeks then for the 3rd one since the formula had to be generated.  The remarkable thing is they just charge the normal price for the paint with no extra for the matching.  A long term investment on their part.
