I chased this problem for a while;;;    found it was in the air cleaner control air valve for the air valve in the snorkel, it had a leak, so just by passed it, its summer now and the winters are not real cold in Chesapeake.

So it was always closed causing it to always draw hot air off the manifold and possibly adding at least a slight vac leak?

Even in the cold I didn't think they made a huge difference so I would guess you won't have issues having it not hooked up.
