Hi,
My 1937 LaSalle hood is not attached to the cowl.  The hood just floats in place.  I think there is some metal missing on the hood.  If someone had a picture of this, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thank you,

Rich Iannelli

The rear of the hood ornament should have a little stepped down base which sits inside the hood centre strip as I recall.

Hello Rich, here is a photo of what you need. But, it should be in chrome.

Thanks Ty,

I have that piece but I must be missing how this holds the hood down.

Rich, that slots into the end of the hood strip. Chances are the metal core of the strip is rusted away on the ends, mine was. that core is the hardest thing to find.

Rich, the core is under the SS trim piece. As Steve said, it usually rusts away. So, the quick fix is to remove the core and cut it so that you have a good clean end and weld a bar within the length to make a proper length.
