I recently received two build sheets for my 57 Eldo's . Along with the build sheets themselves came some technical information that I thought might prove interesting or helpful to the readers . I should point out that there is at least one inconsistancy that I found in the information . Under the section " Engines For Eldorado Cars " , it states that the "Q" engine ( dual quads ) could be ordered as a no cost option on Biarritz & Seville body styles only , and was not available on other body types . Yet , if you look at the build sheet with the line marked in pink , you will see that there was a 60 Special that was built with the "Q" engine .These "Q" engines are part of an ongoing discussion in another post titled " marks on the frame off a 1957 Eldorado Biarritz " . Some readers are of the belief that you could special order any available option or combination even if it wasn't officially offered . They may be correct , based on this information . ....... Thank you Paul.

According to the information you have provided, not only might it be correct; it is correct - at least concerning the question at hand.

As I had previously stated, advertising literature should never be exclusively relied upon in the pursuit of truth.

That definitely proves it!  Car went to Denver.  Wonder how it ran in the altitude.
SO, as it not being an Eldorado, what color valve covers did it have...

It does have "Eldorado Eng" ticked off in the option columns so I bet they were gold. This was also the practice in 55 & 56 when non Eldorado cars had the Eldorado Engine. Hats off to Eric, you were correct  ;)

This information also begs the question: Will the CLC Accept dual quads without penalty on any 57 model no questions asked, or do you have to furnish a build record confirming a factory Q-engine?

It has been past practice that a '57 with a Q engine was not dinged pointswise.  I know of at least 2 Senior cars with Q engines that are not Eldorados.  Of coirse, judging teams are different every year.
