I have been working on recasting and refinishing my steering wheel. In doing this, I realized that I appear to be missing the bezel which holds the button in place. However, I can't conceive of why it would be missing. My grandfather had only removed the radio from the car and nothing else. So, first question, was the bezel made of plastic, by chance? If so, it would explain why it's not there. If not, can anyone give me a list of what parts make up the horn? I believe I have everything that is supposed to be under the nut on the wheel, including the contact and insulator which are attached to the horn wire. I also have the button and spring. I've seen pictures of complete wheels, installed in the car and can see that there is a wheel-colored bezel. I know I have seen various rubber "gaskets" for other similar-make/era cars, so I would guess there is something like that here as well. However, I have no idea. The next question is how does all of this attach. It seems like the button has the standard 3-tab mounting so you would push the button down and turn it to release. However, I don't have the bezel to know how that attaches or any other indication of the assembly. The last question is, is there an interchange of horn bezels? I see that the Buick wheel/horn bezel/horn button look the same, although the Buick bezel is chromed.

Bill.

This is a picture of everything you should have. Yes its plastic but none of this is interchangeable with Buick I'm afraid. You can fit the whole wheel and horn assemble from a Buick but not just bits of it. Bruce Berghoff may be able to help you out.

Wow, that is way more detail than I expected. Thanks! How does the bezel attached to the wheel? Also, I assume that means there is no rubber gasket or anything?

No rubber and the bezel screws on to the retainer cut.
