Doing some research for an article, some assistance required to verify something:

I read the VINs for 1958 go like this:   begins with 58E is an Eldorado Biarritz
begins with 58G is a coupe, but not an Eldorado Seville, is that true?

ALSO

Is the VIN number on the frame, engine, both, neither?
thanks!

Hello , Dave Your answer is that the Eldorado Biarritz Convertible was Code E , the Eldorado SeVille Coupe was Code H , and the Eldorado Brougham was Code P. Code G was the lowline Series 62 Coupe.
I hope this helps.

Dave - The VIN should be in several places on the vehicle. There is a white plastic tag screwed to the lock pillar (the Lubrication Notice), it should be stamped on the machined surface on the right cylinder bank and also on the top of the right frame rail. It is also stamped on top of the right frame well 15" in front of the rear cross member(it can be seen with a mirror only with difficulty at this location). From the 1957-1958 Class 16 Authenticity Manual. - Greg
