you validate or confirm the correct carpet and leather selection color when it's just "light gold"?  Any vendor recommendations and specific leather or carpet sample id names or numbers?  Looking for technical authenticity restoration, it seems like it's a real loose description...

Hi John,

One of the first thing you might consider is joining the CLC. You'll find an amazing amount of knowledge and help here.
Your question relates to the colors. Do you have even small samples of the carpet and leather from an area that has not been exposed to sunlight  and wear? A good upholstery shop can help match the colors. If you want the original style molded carpet there's really only one manufacturer who makes it. It's available in a gazillion colors so you should be all right. The dash top and other vinyl pieces will have to be dyed. I suggest you contact Color -Plus 570-686-3158. They make a water based dye that can be applied by spray or foam brush. They also will match any color sample you supply. The dash top is the same color as the carpet.  The hard plastic of the dash may also be painted (dyed) which Color Plus can match to your leather. I usually can find a standard  color paint to do the steering wheel and column among the myriad of colors available for other vehicles...usually trucks.

Thanks Ralph, actually I rejoined after a 2 year hiatus.  I also sent you a private message regarding this.  I've done what you suggested, although it was complicated by having original leather interiors that had been subsequently dyed by the original owner, and what I believe to be replacement carpet probably installed by the original owner back in the late 80's which has also faded.  I just thought there might be some generally accepted standard vendors/color lots that CLC and judges would recognize as authenticated OEM replacements indexed to this trim code.  At any rate, thank you for responding.

Plan B: Start with the interior paint colors, Lt. Gold (9313) and Medium Gold (9303) - DuPont paint numbers
If you search eBay or other sources for the  DuPont 1966  GM paint colors you'll find samples of the interior paint colors and code numbers. You can use these to select leather and have the Lt and Med. Gold dye made up for the dash top and face. Use the Med. Gold color as a sample when looking for carpeting. Get the closest approximation to that color. The key is that the color you chose must harmonize with the leather. If it's slightly lighter or darker (preferable)  you'll be fine.
