This is sort of a two part question:

My 1970 CDV has the factory base line AM/FM.......one front speaker, one rear. The radio works well, but I would like to replace the dried out original speakers. Who should I be talking to? Who makes a high quality speaker(s) that bolts right in to where the originals are?

Next, I would like to put some type of system in that I can quickly remove for shows. Nothing that I have to start cutting the car up for. I'm just interested in something I can plug my IPad into. Thinking a small amp and those speakers you can put under the seats. I have one of those removable consoles, so maybe the amp can be hidden there? Where else could I put it? How do those under seat speakers sound? I would appreciate any ideas on this topics.......parts to use?.......location?......any help?

I have a 70 also but it had 4 speakers. Can't remember where I got the speakers but for your Application they make single speakers that are actually 2 so ypu can have stereo sound. I got one of those Retrosound units. Fit well with no problems. Can plug ipod into it as well. Works ok with that windshield antenna. It does not look stock but mine is a driver and I want access to the radio to enjoy the car.

Years ago, when I had a 1970 with the mono radio, I bought replacement speakers at Radio Shack. If you can find one, they might still sell them.

Most of the places that sell or repair classic radios seem to have at least a small selection of speakers that fit old cars.   Often times the depth is the issue so ideally you will know what kind of space you have before you start shopping.

I have a 1969 Convertible and it sits on the back seat and Bluetooth connects to my iPhone or iPod. The sound is great and I just take it out of the car and use it at home when I am done..
