**** UPDATE Operation GET CADILLAC PICTURES

This post outlines a simple way to create and link pictures of your Cadillac to your forum profile - see direction below.  A number of you have done so.  In line with my ever advancing quest to get pictures of all club Cadillacs, I took things a step further.

Cadillac Picture Database - Enjoy http://bit.ly/1LvNnb9

And please continue to post and link your Cadillac to your forum profile so we can all see the great cars in the CLC.  You can now post right from the Cadillac Picture Database via the link above, or follow directions in original post below.

*******************

I responded to a recent post for a question about the same model and year Cadillac that I have and the posting member commented that he liked the color of my car.  That is about all that can be determined from the small profile picture.  I'm not around any Cadillac owners or chapters so I wish I could see a decent size picture of all the cars I see listed in your forum signatures.  After a search there seems to be many previous posts about an interest in seeing member car pictures.

So, in an effort to give back to the CLC while shamelessly attempting to advance my selfish want to see Cadillacs, I modified software I wrote for a client to create a quick and simple way to share links to photos of our Cadillacs in each post.

The software takes a picture you upload, resizes it to a standard size, stores it on the web, and gives you a short web link that can be pasted into your Profile signature.  See the links in my signature as an example and try it yourself by clicking http://bit.ly/1Oxi9zT

No CLC resources are used for this, no personal data is stored other than the picture, it is self-policing since these are your pictures with links from your profile.  And I'm not looking for money or selling any services.  Just checking to see if there is an interest and offering a way to share a little more of our pride and joy with each other.

If there is an interest, I can clean up the software a bit more, maybe store the images by year, and capture other general info on the cars (model, etc) - ideas are welcome.

Of course, if this violates any forum policies in any way, shape, or form, just let me know and I will restrict the site and fire the software programmer.

If you try it out you will see that the software also creates a thumbnail picture of your car.  If the forum webmaster can tell me how an href link can be added to the profile and treated like html, the thumbnails can be used instead of the ugly web links.  But either way works fine.

If you try it and have a problem, post it here.  Keep in mind if you upload really big pictures it may go slower.

Here is a step-by-step if needed.

I see a number of beautiful Cadillac pictures are being created.  Please post here after you create and include on your signature so we can all enjoy.

Step 1: click here http://bit.ly/1Oxi9zT then click the Choose File button, select a picture of your Cadillac from your computer, and click Open.

Step 2: Click the Upload File button

Step 3: After the software creates the standard size picture, click the Copy Picture Link button and the picture will show.  The short URL link will be copied into memory and there is no need to copy anything else.  The purpose of the shortened link is to keep the size as small as possible since the forum profile for the signature is limited to 400 characters and the actual link to your picture is quite long.

Step 4: Click on Profile then select Forum Profile

Step 5: Go down to Signature in your profile and paste the link (by pressing Ctrl-V on PC, Command-V on Mac, or selecting paste from the right click menu) and your short link will be copied.

That's it.

It's fantastic and I like the way it pops up the picture in a new window.

It's all good as long as the pics stay on the server...

ok - so I got the long URL!   Anyway enjoy my picture.  I have owned the car for 23 years.  Just came back from a 1600 mile round trip drive from NY to Michigan.

I have posted this as a sticky to the top of our forum. Everyone give this a try if you want to create a picture link to your Cadillacs and LaSalles. Thanks Joe!!
