It is not far from a beautiful small town, Marshall, MI with lots of restored historic 19th century buildings, restaurants and the National House Inn, a small B&B style hotel.

Sir   It's certainly worth the trip. I was bowled over by the Cadillac Museum and Gob struck by the Gilmore overall.  if you or your bride wish some gaming diversion there are two casino's relatively nearby.  When we were there for the recent event one had Jay Leno as a future performer; for what it's worth. Enjoy!

Hello all,
We went to the Cadillac Lasalle Museum at Gilmore. Since we went November 2 there were only a handful of people there and the weather was 70 degrees what a treat. Gilmore is well worth the trip everything is neat and clean from the automobile displays to the landscaping. The Cadillac Lasalle building does not take that much time to visit but that is not the only building that Cadillacs are on display so make sure you go thru all the buildings and take your time and read the information that is posted by the cars that catch your interest well worth reading.
We traveled to Holland MI. about a hour and a half away and stayed at the Hope Inn and conference center very nice place to stay. It is located downtown and since it is a college town there where plenty of good cheap places to eat also some upscale places as well. Fun walking downtown Holland with all the bars and live music as well as a great ice cream shop. From there we went north to the sand dunes and hiked around stayed in Traverse City. We decided to head home going the northern route instead of going home thru Gary Indiana and Chicago with all the tolls. Took hwy.2 thru Michigan that runs right next to Lake Michigan then back down thru Wisconsin. All in all a great trip with fantastic weather and scenery.

I went to Gilmore on the 19th. As stated the Cadillac building doesn't take long to go through but all of the buildings are worth walking through in total. Unfortunately for me it was 50 degrees and extremely windy, I wasn't able to take a selfie in front of the Cadillac building because the wind would not let me stand still long enough to get a picture. In all I was there for a little over 2 hours plus lunch at the dinner. There is a lot to read for most of the cars on display.

I have to say how nice it was that all of the buildings have the cars sitting on the floor available without barriers to walk up to, look inside or just have that feeling of excitement to be standing next to any of the cars like they were your own. I haven't been anywhere that allows that before.

The following day I went to the Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford museum. The Ford museum was not so enjoyable after being at the Gilmore first.
