Okay so I know I'll have to pull the door panel off but which bolt adjusts the horizontal position of the vent window?  Mine is off as the upper tip of the vent window doesnt seal with the window frame.

Loosen all 3.  You may have to install washers between the door and the frame in different bolt locations until it all lines up.

Damn I was hoping it was a simple adjustment.  Not too big of a deal...just more of a pain in the a$$

Another thing:  the tab on the mechanical strip that contacts the window frame should have a white plastic cover.  If it's missing, not only will ot scratch the hell out of the frame but can cause the strip to not push in as far as it should.

If the plastic is missing, wrap the tab with a couple layers of masking tape, close the door and see how it seals.

I know that the mechanical strip has the white piece of plastic...its present.  Tell you what I'll take some photos when I pull the car out of my storage unit tonight when I go cruising and post them here.  Its not that serious of an issue but since the vent window doesn't seal properly it can cause water to leak in should I get caught in a rain storm.

Are the strip springs rusted?  Replacement springs are available.

59-in-pieces

Tim,
At the risk of sounding way dumb, is it possible that the door hinges are in need of a tweak, and the door is sagging.
Not a 57 closed car - but a 59 convrt, I had a little gaposis in the vent window area, and solved it by adjusting the door hinges which realigned the door - no more gaposis.
Ok, I'm behind a boulder - take your shots.
Have fun,
Steve B.

Springs seem fine and I know where to get the replacements.  I'll take a second look again this evening just to be sure though.

As far as the door not being aligned properly it closes just fine.  If you look down the window when its closed you can see that the vent window frame is not aligned properly an bends off at a slight angle away from the door.  I'll snap photos tonight.
