My '73 convertible doesn't have an antenna or a  location for one. Is it in the rear window?

Its in the windshield. You should see two very thin wires running up the center of the windshield then branching off in either direction across the top.

Check your front windshield - many GM cars of that era had the antenna placed inside the windshield.  Check for a dual thin line going up the middle of the windshield, and then across the top.  Of course, it is possible the windshield has been replaced over the years, and a standard windshield installed in place of the antenna windshield.

If your car was not equipped with the electric antenna, and you are looking to get the correct original windshield, here is a link (no affiliation - just the first thing that popped up in google)

Check your acc codes to see what all the car came with - it is equally possible that your car originally had the fender mounted electric antenna, and that fender may have been replaced with a non-antenna fender.
