If anyone can decode and provide information from this body data plate I would appreciate the assistance.  I was told by my seller that this car is a 20 year old repaint.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Jason,

I came up with the following:

24   Corinthian Blue (a light blue)
C     Blue convertible top
366 Dark Blue leather

Thank you!  Looks like the new top my seller put on a couple years ago (white) is not authentic.  The dark blue Sierra Grain leather survives but there are tears in a few places and the front bench top replaced with vinyl sometime in the past.  My 11 year old daughter says she can fall asleep stretching out on the original leather back seat, it's that comfortable.

I have the dealer color book for 1970 and looked up the Corinthian blue, it looks more medium to me and depending upon lighting your car may not be too far off.  It is expensive to change the color of a car because door jams, under hood along fenders, and underside of trunk should be sprayed.  There is bound to be a section of original paint you can find, maybe remove door sill plates or something to verify that your current color is close to original.

The white top is striking against the blue and dark blue would look great too.  Plus the dark blue top with dark blue interior would probably be better, as two car colors is good, and a third gets a little too busy sometimes.

The factory color chip brochure indicates three blues available that year.  One is a bright, medium Firemist blue, one is a dark blue, and this one, which I would consider a light blue.  My '68 Eldorado is Emperor Blue, a medium shade, and is considerably darker than this Corinthian Blue.  The door jambs may or may not show the original color, but look below the trunk or door  weatherstripping.

I believe this is the correct color.  I had ordered a set of door pillar u-seals to replace the crusty old originals.  I made that change a couple weeks ago and what apparently happened is that the repainter masking taped around these and did not remove them, so there was original paint underneath.  Looks like whoever did mine did a fairly good job matching the original.  A view in brighter sun is attached.  I appreciate everyone's input.  Definitely not planning on changing to a dark blue top anytime soon, my seller replaced the top 2 years ago and it's fresh.

That looks similar to the color chip in the dealer book I have.  To me it is not light, more medium blue.  Paint looks to be in good shape.  I go through a top about every five years, because the top gets worked down and back up about 80 times each year.  There is just one more season left in mine now, will have it replaced for the GN2017.

Hey jason,

I used to own a 70 just like yours. Do you know any history on it? I'm in Southern CA but the car had the Protect-O-Plate and was originally from the Northern CA area, Santa Clara if I remember. Its a long shot but thought I would ask.

This car has supposedly spent its whole life in the Lansing, MI area where I am now.  Came from a long gone dealer called McClintock Cadillac.  I have a protect o plate brochure with the dealer name and a lady purchaser name typed in, but the VIN typed in doesn't match.  My seller owned it for about 15 years and got it from another long time owner before that.  Documents also included papers showing the car was in the CLC club many years ago, my seller was not a CLC member.
