What is good to use to wrap wires in the engine compartment?  I have 20 year old electrical tape that covers up 30 year old electrical tape that covers 40 year old stuff. I don't want to use that Autozone stuff. What is good that can take the heat and still will look nice?

Jeff,
Hi. They make special wire loom "tape" or "wrap" in different widths. It's not sticky. It's stretches and what holds it together is to wrap it evenly and snug with like a 50% overlap. You can use a single wrap of some quality 3M tape  (like 33+) at the very end to seal it if you want. Take off all the old tape first, so you can get a nice consistent wrap, without the added uneven bulk. It looks real nice if done properly.

I remove the old tape and just regular electrical tape looks fine and lasts

Hey Jeff, what did you end up doing with your wiring?  You get it wrapped?

I use the non-sticky stuff when wrapping a long length of loom, especially in a conversion, as it allows the loom to be manipulated around obstacles with problems.

The Sticky stuff is good for short wraps.

Friction tape?

Jon,
Hi. Wire loom tape. It's not sticky, little stretch to it and overlapping is what holds it together. Looks professional when installed.
