Gary,
I understand the problem. I had it many years ago. I bought 7:00 X 15 Lester tires. They were too big for the covers. I had to use some ancient 7:00 tires in the side mounts. Brian Hermansader in San Diego has a side mounted car. I suggest you contact him to see what he's done.

I concur with Bob. I carry smaller tyres in the fenders.

Steve what size tires are we talking also how are the covers attached to the fenders ,I bought this car and it was disassembled , I have all the parts , I hope but I have to kinda have an idea what the fastening system is like so I can go on the hunt , if you could give me a tire size that would be great !!  thanks again HARPO

Its not so much the tyre size Gary as the profile and shape of the tyre. The normal size for the small series was 700/16 but manufactures have done strange things with the sizes. They make them fatter than they used to and sometimes higher.  I could not get my new Firestones in my 37 covers and ended up putting some much older Cokers in there which were slimmer profile.  Whats the problem with yours? too high or too wide?
I had a 1940 until recently and as I remember the cover just fitted over the tyre. Don't remember that it was fixed to the fender. I think the bigger series did though.

Steve the cover has some holes at the end of the cover, like it has a bracket that attaches to the fender , the whole deal is a bit weird I'm shure there is a way to fasten all that sheet metal to the fender , if any one can shed some light on this it would be nice thanks for your help , Harpo
