Guys, I have a nice dash grille that still has the cabin sensor in it. What is the correct way to remove it? Help.
Thanks, Bob

The dash pad (instrument panel cover using Shop Manual lingo) needs to be removed to access a 3/8" nut behind a bracket that holds the in-car sensor in place.  The sensor body turns and locks into the plastic grill assembly.  Bottom line, is remove the dash pad, and use a 3/8" deep socket to remove the retaining nut. Jason,
I have the grille out. It seems like the sensor turns pretty hard. Do you twist it one way or the other??
Thanks, Bob

I don't remember it going one way or the other, but I never remember much issue getting it to twist out. You might put a couple drops of WD 40 at the base where it turns. Be careful with the grill as it is brittle.  I've removed 3 dozen and never broke one yet but I know they are very brittle as I often seen them broken up in parts cars I bring in.

I just tried one I just pulled out of a parts car and you can turn it counter clockwise or clockwise to remove sensor assembly from the plastic grill. You just need to get the length of it's base of the sensor to line up with the elongated opening of the sensor grill. I just used a 2 fingered firm grip at base of the plastic grill and a firm grip with other hand on sensor base and turned.  A bit of pressure but not that much.

Jason,
I removed it. Had to grab the sensor with a pliers. It was tight! No breakage.
Thanks, Bob
