Looking for my missing engine

Hey everyone

I need help trying to locate the numbers matching engine for my 1960 Eldo Biarritz.  The car came from California.  It was bought new there and lived there until this past month.  The serial number for the engine is 60E011076.  I would really love to reunite the original engine with this incredible and rare car.  I would appreciate if when time allows to please check through your own parts stashes and see if we can find this original engine.

This may be a shot in the dark but I figure I would mention it...... A neighbor of mine had a Charger that had the wrong engine. It was fairly low mileage so no real reason for a swap. Turns out it had a bad engine from the start and the dealer put a crate engine in it under warranty. They were able to locate the paperwork so it is, on paper anyway, a numbers matching car.
I have absolutely no idea if GM did such a thing, but it may be worth looking into. Good

Thanks for your response.  The matching numbers engine was in the vehicle until it was pulled out a few years ago for a rebuild.  The story goes that the shop had closed during the rebuild and it was lost.  I really hope to find it and reunite it with the car.  Obviously I'm willing to buy the engine from whomever might have it.

It would help to give the name of the shop, its  location & names of people involved. Also, why the shop closed. Also maybe a Craigs list ad offering a reward.

The shop was located in Cypress CA.  I have no idea the name of it or why it closed.  The family was selling the car after their parents passed.  They have no info on the shop.  I'd imagine the engine would only be worth something to a Cadillac collector.  So I'm hopeful maybe someone here has ended up with it.

You need a detective near Cypress. Look in your CLC directory & find one. There's lot of helpful people on this board, but many more members that never come here. If it was near me I'd do it.

It would be nice to have the engine but as long as for fit all of the Eldo specific parts it's really not as big of a deal on a Cadillac as it is on a muscle car.  It may make the car worth a little more but certainly not a deal breaker for most guys.

The fact that it's impossible to see unless the car is on a lift doesn't hure either.
