Bob,

Below is a photo of the cover of the non-deluxe, Ventilating-Defrosting Heater in my '41.  I believe the same unit was used each year '41 to '47 and the cover I have matches what I see in the 1942 Accessory Data Book.  I can't take a photo of the backside of my unit as it is installed in the car.

Your cover is close to mine but does not have the width that mine does.  As far as the back side, my water pipes are on opposite corners (lower left and top right when I look at where the pipes come into the engine compartment) whereas yours both seem to come out the bottom.  Also, the air outlets for mine are on the opposite side from yours.

Could Cadillac have used different units over the years?

Thanks, Jeff,
I know what a 41 heater looks like. I seem to remember that they made a change in 42 & later. Most 42 & later cars had the deluxe heater. People were getting smart!! So... can anyone maybe look at their cars or a 46/47 data book? This heater might not even be Cadillac?
Thanks, Bob

It looks like the same style as a Cadillac heater Bob but just not the same. The doors open differently etc. Personally I can't see it being for post war Cadillac as the heater controls are in the dash to operate the doors rather than manual like the one you have.  Someone making them for aftermarket without infringing copyright perhaps?

Bob, I don't know what you mean about the customer "getting smart." When I had my 1941 Series 6127 back in ought'58, we had a very cold winter in Indiana. There were times I had to turn the heater off as it got so hot. Maybe you mean that with the deluxe heaters, the heat was more evenly diffused.

I'm convinced it is not a Cadillac heater. I found pictures of all the non -under seat heaters from 1939-47. It didn't match any of them.
The 1939-41 heaters all had the defroster outlets on the top.
The 42-47 heaters all appear to be the same, The Feb1947 Cadillac Accelerator says that 46-47 are the same. The defroster outlets are on the driver side.
The proportions, top to bottom and side to side are nearly the same in all the pictures. The 2 more squared doors both open the same direction on all of them. The heater inlets and outlets were on opposite corners. And they all used the same "Cadillac" word.  Warren

Warren,
Thanks. Do you know what it fits?
Steve,
Thanks.
Barry,
What I meant was getting smart & ordering a heater in the first place. Many people suffered from D.E.M. at that time. Depression Era Mentality. I coined that phrase. Also 42 was the first year that had a dash set up for built in controls as opposed to hanging underneath.

Bob,
here is a heater I bought years ago as a Ford heater. It looks much the same as yours. The square doors are hinged in the center, so unlike Cadillac they open to different sides as yours probably do, too, which due to rust cannot be judged. Don't think that yours is Cadillac.
