So my car has some type of elctric door locks .. Push down on one and I believe that both doors lock, same with unlock  .. Just so happens my drivers door lock isn't working now .
My question is was this a keyless remote system ? Was it an option in 75 ?

Tell you a funny story...

About 15 years ago I bought a 73 Eldo convertible from an ad in the local daily paper.  Remember those?
The paper, not the Eldo...

There was a problem with the door lock on the driver's side and it was operating with the power lock button but the cylinder was damaged.

I work in the security industry and at the time we were using a small wireless panic button and a remote receiver for silent panics in retail stores and medic alerts in residential jobs.

I got the brilliant idea to turn one of these into a remote unlock device for the Eldo.  The little wireless button tripped a 12 dc receiver and the receiver provided an output, with terminals for common, normally open or normally closed contacts.  So I popped off the door panel and spliced into the door lock wiring which provided a constant 12 V for the receiver, and I used the normally open output which threw a closure to the door lock button on the unlock side.

So brilliant!  Now I could unlock the door with a little button on the keychain and get into the car without playing with the key.  I forgot one little thing called a relay.  A relay can take a low amp input or closure and make higher rated contacts open or close on the secondary side of the relay.

By not using a relay, the $90.00 receiver worked great, one time.  As the door unlocked the receiver went up in smoke and melted into a puddle inside the door.

After that I just left the car unlocked until I eventually sold it.

I was close, but not quite there with a Key FOB on a 73 Eldo.

Its got to be some sort of aftermarket or home made kit.  Guessing if you start looking around you will find some wiring and or devices that really stand out as not being factory.   Getting rid of it will likely solve your problem.

You can move the lock manually?   This era especially Eldo seems to have a design 'feature' that lets moisture get into the power mechanism inside the door and freezes them up.
