1940 lasalle bumper bracket grommets

Hello, I have a question. Is there any type of adhesive used to hold the bumper bracket grommets tight to the body? Any knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When they were new and nice and pliable they fitted better to the body. Usually the fenders have had work over the years and they no longer fit as well as they did out of the factory.
Problem with glueing them is you will pull the paint to remove them for any reason later on.

If you are working on a 40-52 series and maybe the same applies to the 50 series the rear bumper grommets from Steele do not fit well.  The angle of the bumper hole in the grommet does not match the angle of the surface that fits the body.  The situation can be improved by cutting some rubber on the bottom of the bumper hole.  If these were correct they were meant to fit tight on the bumper bar which in turn would hold them close to the body.
