I would like to replace the flat mirror glass on the passenger-side rear view mirrors with convex glass on mv 1941 and 1953 convertibles.  I believe this would eliminate a serious blind spot (especially on the '41) and improve safety when driving on multi-lane highways.  I can get the convex mirror glass and cut it to fit OK (4 1/2 inches diameter), but can't figure out how to remove the original flat glass.  Has anybody ever tried this?  Alternatively, is there a source for OEM-style mirrors with the convex glass?

Most old style mirrors are 'Peened' over in the factory I think.  Could the new glass be stuck on the old in some way?

Steve,
Yeah, I thought about sticking it over the old glass using silicone adhesive.  May come to that.  But replacing the old glass would seem to be a "cleaner" approach, if I can figure out how to do it without tearing up my original mirrors.

I can't remember all the details now but check with an auto glass shop.  The old one is easy to get out.  You just break it.  They then cut a new mirror to fit.  Not sure how they made it stay in.
