For anybody that reads Scandinavian, today's Svenska Dagbladet (Swedish daily) has in its online edition a story about a marketing tour of Europe in five V16s that took place in 1930.

The title translates "The giant car [or car company, it's ambiguous] from the USA was a fiasco in Stockholm".  Apparently the cars were criticized for a too-small interior.  The King of Sweden in particular said it was "like sitting in a Ford".  The quote goes, "In these cars I can't sit up straight with hat on and probably not without hat either and I cannot sit comfortably with my legs, but have to sit scrunched up as if I sat in a Ford", supposedly.

King Gustaf was 6' 6 1/2'' tall and apparently used to sitting in the car with his hat on.  Probably a top hat, at that.  He did like to travel fast, though.  Supposedly he once caused an accident by telling his driver to drive faster and faster:

The location (just outside of Stockholm) has been known as "King's Curve" ever since, and that is now the official name of that area.

Nothing was too badly damaged, neither people nor vehicles.  The car is in a museum today.

Agnes had several months worth of pictures in the S/S about this tour of the V-16s all over Europe.
