I loved watching their showing of the 1972 Eldorado Convertible.

I like the reference to the Allante about a minute in. "and Caddy's often rumored mega-buck Italian sports car may still just be all talk"...... :)

Great looking car for sure.  The video stated that acceleration performance was comparable for the time (19.3 sec 1/4 mile @ 70mph - 13 sec. 0-60mph (actually in USA it was illegal in 1984 to drive 60mph) ??!!).

Looked at the 72 Eldorado video after - did you notice the rubber fuel line from fuel pump to carb?  I worked on a 1972 Eldorado convertible for almost a year fixing almost every mechanical item.  Felt like royalty driving it and I like the feel of the torsion bar front suspension.

I have never seen one of those before.   I was with it till they got to the front of the car.  I don't know what it is that doesn't work for me, maybe the chrome up front when they got rid of the rest of it?

Maybe Buick used up all the black grill paint that year on their touring version of the Riviera?   Or maybe the chrome would not stick to those because they had a performance engine in theirs?  Weren't the turbo Buicks in the 6 second range?  Then the last couple years with EFI they got em under 5?   Would have been interesting if Cadillac offered or used that engine in this Eldo.

Guess it was another good thought but some of the higher ups would not let the people on the ground take it where it needed to go to actually be something.

While I was watching the '72 video, I saw a number of matters with this car than made my car look good.   They sure didn't use a brand new Cadillac in 1972.

Also, it was a plain-jane car with no Fibre Optics either.

You guys must be talking about the greenish 72 Eldo?   I didn't find it right away because its not a Motorweek one.   Was that car also a non AC car?   The center vents look normal but it looks like flat covers on both the drivers and passenger side vents.   Or were they maybe damaged and someone just made those covers for them?

Bruce, the 1972 Cadillac was test driven in 1999 or so, after it was already a classic.

Thanks for that Scot,

For some unknown reason, I can't find it again.
