Is the A-6 Compressor a Direct Replacement for the original 1953?

So, I am now the proud owner of all the original AC pulleys and brackets for my 1953.  As I look at the brackets, I now wonder if an A-6 Compressor will bolt right on.

Will it?  If not an A-6, then which one?

Tye,
I have both a NOS A5 & a NOS A6 factory replacement for an A5. I advertised them on the board several weeks ago. Please do a search. I'm not sure if these are for sure Cadillac or? It's very hard to ID  these early part numbers. Please advise.
Thanks, Bob

Bob,

I appreciate your reply, but perhaps my question wasn't clear.

What compressor model will bolt directly to the brackets on my 1953?

Are you implying your A-5 and A-6 models both fit?

Tye,
The only for sure bolt in is an A5 compressor made for that application. I'm not sure if the A5 I have is the correct one. I'm not sure the A6 I have is either. As I said, the numbers are very confusing in those years. I bought the compressors years ago for another GM car. I suggest you look at the compressors in my ad. If you want to pursue it, we can get serious with detailed pics & dimensions.

Old Air Products in Texas sells a modified A6 with all the hardware to bolt it in where the A5 was.

Tread lightly here.  Compressors changed annually from 1953-1957 each with their own brackets.  I believe the modified A-6 will only fit the 1958-1961 brackets.

Oh my...

Having purchased these brackets from a salvage yard online, I actually have no guarantee they are off of a 53.  I'd better take some measurements.
