1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville Underbody

Hey guys,


I've been told that the under bodies were painted a red oxide primer. Anyone out there that painted their under bodies with red oxide primer? Anyone find a correct source? I have been looking at Rust Seal's Red Oxide rust proofing paint but didn't know if that would be close to the original.

Mine has black undercoating which was typically done at the dealership

Mine has undercoating as well but would like to get rid of that and go with the factory look. Would love to find something close to factory color with rust proofing properties!

What I see being done during restoration is a coating of epoxy primer followed by a urethane paint that has been tinted and flattened to look like red oxide primer..any competent paint shop should be able mix something up fairly close,

With the red oxide, there should also be a bit of body color overspray along the edges of the body.  The didn't mask off the floor when painting the car.
