Guys,
I was watching some pictures on TCM. They were featuring Mack Sennett films. One was titled Mickey done in 1918. The cars were over the top. BIG limo's, touring cars AND a BIG low roadster with a "V" grille & 2 spares mounted horizontally in the turtle deck behind the folded top. Pure class for 1918! I was unable to ID any cars. I'm VERY curious as to what the roadster was. Barry Wheeler?? Anyone??
Thanks, Bob

Tom,
Thanks for posting. That's the problem, the cars are only on for a split second because they speed up those films. Is there a way to freeze frame them?? Did you see the roadster in question?
Thanks, Bob

Bob,
Is this the car you saw?  IMCDB identifies it as a "Stutz Bulldog Special".

I can't help on the identification, but here are a couple of thumbs of the roadster in case anyone else can identify the make -

We can always count on Tod Moore for unusual images. He is a pro!

Gary,
That's not the car. Thanks.
Tod,
Thanks for doing that. I know almost nothing about teen cars. Maybe this was some kind of race car?? Pretty unique. An ID would be great.

....and with Steve's description, we can find the other cars -

a 1914 Packard and a Stutz Bulldog Special

Steve,
Thanks for the info. I never heard of a Abbott-Detroit before. So, lets involve Cadillac in this discussion. Maybe someone could post a picture of a 1913 Cadillac roadster. One of the reasons I started this topic was how modern & aggressive this car was. Especially the front end. If I was there as a young lad with plenty of money in 1913, I think I would have bought the Abbott-Detroit.

This particular Abbott-Detroit certainly had a distinctive front end and strangely this was their only model with it. Sadly though it was not good enough to make the company last anything beyond 1916.
They go into the list of over 3000 motorized transport company's in the US history books that failed.
Here's a picture of a Cadillac of the same year and for my money if I had it and lived back then a much more class act.

Yes the thread evolved as non Cadillac, but it should be retained as those of use who are novices can more easily identify the early Cadillac cars and how they compared to others of the day.
