Eldosaurus Rex

Hello everyone!

I finally stopped procrastinating and joined the club!
I've been lurking for years!

Currently I only have one Cadillac...my lonely only!
Aptly dubbed "The Eldosaurus Rex".
1966 Eldorado Convertible
429ci, Carter AFB

I've had her for 20 years.  The last five she's been sleeping in the garage a lot.
Seems one thing after another some days!
Recently, I've renewed my commitment ($$$) to getting her back on the road.
I installed a new radiator and I am going through the brake system.
Had the Carter AFB rebuilt...snapped off an ear when reinstalling!  Ouch!$!  Got a fresh rebuild from Carb-X, new fuel lines, etc..
I think I messed up the carb install, exhaust popping.  Either the gasket/ins/shim order, improper gasket or sealant use, not sure.  As soon as I find the correct forum, I'll be asking around about that!

If I don't see you on the road, I'll see you at the gas station.   :)

Hi'ya Ralph!
Thanks for the welcome!
I got the order correct...but I gooped the crap out of it!  New gaskets on the way, do it again!  Many suggest a thin coat of gasket tack spray on the shim to carb surface.  Lots of opinions on the subject!

Thank you Greg!

I will be on the road soon...in the meantime, I sometimes go to the garage and just sit in her for a few minutes; like a kid pretending!

Hey P!

Yes sir, happy 50th to our land yachts!

Always great to meet another 66 Eldorado owner, we are so few!  Considering there were only 2250 owners to begin with!

Bucket seats.  I am so depressed...I don't have them!  And let's face it, life would be so much more enjoyable with them!  From what I've gathered, bucket seats were a free option in 66.  I guess the original owner wanted 6 passengers in the cab.  I dunno, in Jersey the big selling point was being able to get 6 bodies in the trunk with room for empty Tide boxes and Quickcrete!8)

I have the red leather/carpet also.  I thought it was called "Firethorn Mist"?

Thanks for the link, I look forward to reading back issues as well!
