Just wondering how to change the fluid and what type it takes. Must I pull the pan or is there a drain plug.

There is a drain plug in the pan.  There is also a drain plug in the flywheel for draining the torus.  To access that, you have to remove the starter and the lower cover.

Dexron III/Mercon is what I use in my 58.

I used Dex III when I changed my trans fluid.  I had to replace the rear tailshaft housing because my original was broken

i had to replace my tail shaft housing as well.  make sure you get a 57 or 58 tailshaft housing.  other years will not fit.
