Any one know how to check Vin # verification??? Looking at buying a 1970 truck with LOST title and registration. Thanks TC

Are VIN #'s still on the truck? Usually DMV will want a rub of the numbers. Sometimes you need to post a bond. It all depends on the state.

Tony,

If it's lost and the person who had the title still owns it they should be able to apply for a duplicate.

Otherwise you could end up with a truck you cannot register to drive.

I think I have solved my issue, truck was registered in NY, and seller has found the last registration, they say that is what I will need to title truck in Fla.

Be sure to have a signed Bill of Sale from the seller.
I'm from Florida and have been through the minor hassle of getting a FL title for a "non-title state" car, which I guess NY still was in 1970, but it has been a few years and things may have changed some.

I have a signed bill of sale and last registration, that states transferable on registration. Hope I got it all what a hassle. I think i will get a notary to give me proof of vin.
