i have a 57 CDV with AC. it came to me with the factory filter in a box and id like to use it versus just the normal off the shelf in line job thats on there.  my car has AC and the filter has 3 outlets but im not sure where each goes.  there is also a rubber line running down from where the filter would mount thats not connected to anything.

when it was shipped to me i was told by the driver that the car had an issue starting so the seller swapped out the fuel filter and carb and it fired right up.  i have cleaned out the Edlebrock and just put that on and its running great but i want to restore some originality to my engine bay.

i did a search and only found biarittz stuff or pictures that later say that the fuel lines were routed wrong.

One of them is the inlet from the fuel pump (labeled IN on my '58), the other is the outlet to the carburetor (labeled OUT on my 58), and the 3rd is a return line to the tank (this one is on top on my 58 and only has a very small hole--about the size of the point of a ball point pen.)

If you still aren't sure, post pics of the underside of the top portion.

The A/C cars (are supposed to) have a return line to the fuel tank.
So one outlet port goes to the carb(s) and the other to the return.   I have the info somewhere on that filter if you can't figure out which port is which, but it should be marked.   Routing might be in the '57 manual or specifications also but not sure.
You can google and get some pictures of the '57 motors.
That AC 3 port filter is quite rare, by the way, so don't mess it up.
I've a '58 and they share some common items, but the '57 is the mirror image of the '58 in alot of respects.

The "IN" side should dump straight down into the bowl, while the "OUT" side should channel up from the center.

Ok. So

IN - from the fuel pump
OUT - to the carb
Center - to the fuel tank

Correct.  If you remove the fitting on top, you should see that it leads to a very small hole.  This is to allow vapors to return to the tank
